VAN - Reacting to the aggravated isolation conditions on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the women stated that the strength of Kurdish women would overcome the isolation mentality.

The Kurdish people and their friends, who stated that the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been under aggravated isolation conditions on Imrali Island for 24 years, must be ensured as soon as possible, had recently taken to the streets in many cities to protest the 9 October International Conspiracy. Women are angry about the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan on the one hand, and the violations in Turkish prisons in connection with the isolation on the other hand, and the increasing number of suspicious prisoner deaths as a result. Women spoke to our microphone regarding the aggravated isolation conditions and increasing violations in Van.

'Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is prevented from meeting with his lawyers and family'

Zekiye Kaya, a member of the Peace Mother Council, emphasized that the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues, spreading to all prisons. Zekiye stated that as a result of the violations, prisoners face many obstacles, especially living materials, and said, “Although prisoners in prisons have the right to lawyer, communication and family opinion, unfortunately, with isolation, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan cannot enjoy these rights.”

'We will not stray from this path'

Stating that the way to a solution is possible with the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Zekiye said, “Under the conditions of isolation, we do not want the bodies of the prisoners to be buried with increasing violations. For the deaths to come to an end, meetings with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan must be established. We, too, know very well that the path to a solution and peace is PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Therefore, we will express in every field that the isolation should be lifted, and a solution should be created.”

'Isolation does not fit any morality or law'

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Municipal Council member Songül Işık stated that the isolation is an inhumane practice and said, “This severe isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and all the prisoners is a policy that is too wrong to fit in with humanity. There is no morality, no law, no conscience. Isolation has spread not only in prisons, but also in all living spaces outside. It has a great impact on ecology, economy, and people's lives.”

'The power of women will defeat the power'

Macide Varhan, who is in the management of HDP İpekyolu District Organization, said, “The government is afraid of us. They are afraid of us Kurdish women. For this reason, they are trying to intimidate both the prisoners in prisons, PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and us women in this way. The power of us Kurdish women will defeat this mentality. They cannot intimidate or intimidate us with these isolation practices.”
