Nagihan Akarsel was bid farewell on the shoulders of women

KONYA - Jineology Magazine editor and journalist Nagihan Akarsel was bid farewell to her last journey with the slogan "Jin jiyan azadi" on women's shoulders. 
 
The body of Jineology Research Center member, journalist and writer Nagihan Akarsel, who was killed as a result of an armed attack in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Federated Kurdistan Region on October 4, was brought to Gölyazı (Xelikan) village of Cihanbeyli district, where she was born, after autopsy procedures in the morning. The funeral, which was greeted with the zılgıts of the women, was taken to the village cemetery on the shoulders of the women.
 
'Nagihan we are all' 
 
 The women, who resisted the gendarmerie's blocking of the transfer of Nagihan's photo, continued to walk with the photo. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Women's Assembly Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran made a short speech here on behalf of the crowd who came to the cemetery after the march where “Jin jiyan azadî” lollipops were carried and the slogan was shouted. Ayşe said, “Nagihan is all of us. They may have killed Nagihan. As Nagihan's comrades, we will inherit her legacy and continue her struggle until the end." 
 
Later, after the religious obligations were fulfilled, Nagihan was bid farewell on her last journey. Women wore purple shawls and left carnations on Nagihan's grave. 
 
Her family offers her condolences at home.
